Overview

Vertical flow sedimentation tank

Product Details

Introduction:
Vertical flow sedimentation tank, also known as vertical sedimentation tank, is a sedimentation tank in which wastewater flows vertically in the tank. The plane shape of the pool body is circular or square, and water enters the pool from top to bottom through the inlet pipe located at the center of the pool (the flow velocity in the pipe should be less than 30mm/s). An umbrella shaped baffle is placed under the pipe to evenly distribute the wastewater in the pool and slowly rise along the entire water flow section (usually 0.5-0.7mm/s for domestic sewage, with a sedimentation time of 1-1.5h). Suspended solids settle into the conical sedimentation hopper at the bottom of the pool, and clarified water flows out from around the pool along the surrounding overflow weir. A baffle and a scum tank are installed in front of the weir to intercept the scum and ensure the quality of the effluent. On one side of the pool, a mud discharge pipe (with a diameter greater than 200mm) is installed against the pool wall to regularly discharge the mud through static water pressure. The advantages of vertical flow sedimentation tank are small footprint and easy sludge discharge, but the disadvantages are large depth, difficult construction, and high cost. Commonly used for treating sewage treatment plants with a water volume of less than 20000m ³/d.
Theoretical basis: In a vertical flow sedimentation tank, the direction of water flow is opposite to the direction of particle sedimentation, and the interception speed is equal to the rising speed of water flow. Particles with rising speed equal to settling speed will be suspended in the mixed liquid to form a suspension layer, which intercepts and filters the rising particles. Therefore, the efficiency of vertical flow sedimentation tanks is higher than that of horizontal flow sedimentation tanks.
Working principle of vertical flow sedimentation tank:
In a vertical flow sedimentation tank, sewage flows vertically at a flow velocity v from top to bottom, and suspended particles in the sewage have the following three motion states:
① When the particle settling velocity u>v, the particles will precipitate downwards with a difference in u-v, and the particles will be removed;
② When u=v, the particles are in a random state and do not sink or rise;
③ When u<v, particles will not settle down and will be carried away by the rising water flow.
Construction of vertical flow sedimentation tank:
The plane of a vertical sedimentation tank can be circular, square, or polygonal. In order to ensure uniform water distribution in the pool, the pool diameter should not be too large, generally ranging from 4 to 7 meters, and not exceeding 10 meters. To reduce the total height of the pool, the sludge area can adopt a multi bucket sludge discharge method.
The ratio of the diameter of a vertical sedimentation tank to the effective water depth is generally not greater than 3.
