The Lorad LPX series portable X-ray imaging system from Speyer
The reliability of key components used in commercial and military aerospace projects relies on complex manufacturing and quality inspection procedures. Due to the high manufacturing costs of most components used in the aerospace industry, X-ray photography technology was used for component testing to avoid damage.
High Voltage Electronics Corporation is a leading supplier of X-ray systems in the field of non-destructive testing. Our portable constant voltage Lorad LPX series (LPX160, LPX200, and LPX300) X-ray devices have set a new standard for non-destructive testing imaging systems in the aerospace and defense industries, as well as in various industrial fields where it is necessary to identify subtle faults before incurring expensive costs in the evolution of hazardous issues.
The LPX series products are available in liquid cooling and air cooling types, capable of generating variable outputs of 5-300kV and 0.1-10mA (up to 900W), achieving unparalleled resolution in imaging of various materials. All LPX industrial X-ray systems operate in a 100% working cycle, suitable for cost-effective continuous operation.
The devices in the LPX series can be used in many different environments. It has been confirmed that the liquid cooled type does not constitute an ignition source when used in volatile gasoline vapor atmospheres, such as when inspecting fuel cells, and is therefore widely used. The air-cooled type is suitable for other occasions where cooling air is available, except for volatile liquid vapor environments. A hybrid device can also be configured, which can choose to use air or liquid cooling.
The LPX series X-ray device is an end grounded type for easy and more flexible positioning on the tube head assembly. The focal spot size of the X-ray tube grounded at the end is 1.5mm2. The tube hole is equipped with a low absorption beryllium window, allowing radiation technicians to utilize the full spectrum of X-ray energy. This setting shortens the exposure time for high output and enables high-resolution imaging for both thin composite materials and honeycomb structures, as well as various metal materials with different thicknesses.
Product features
Digital microprocessor control.The LPX system is equipped with a dedicated microprocessor driven control device. In addition to automatic heating and self diagnostic safety measures, the LPX series device has a memory that can store and retrieve up to 250 exposure techniques, and can retain the last set of exposure parameters that existed before a power outage. The LPX series devices can adjust kV values in increments of 1kV and mA values in increments of 0.1 mA. The exposure duration can be set in increments of 1 second at any point between 0 minutes and 0 seconds and 99 minutes and 59 seconds; The variable range of mA value is 0-29995 mA.

The control device has the following features:
Perform automatic warm-up in five modes that operators can choose from;
The exposure unit can be in seconds or mA;
Accurate display of kV and mA values;
Display the operation status in text and numerical form;
Self diagnostic security device;
Accurate settings that achieve precise reproducibility;
Can read the monitor under direct sunlight;
Can store/retrieve 250 exposure techniques.
Automatic adaptability to input line voltage.The LPX series X-ray device is highly suitable for today's demanding non-destructive testing requirements. Although the products in this series have uneven appearances, they are easy to transport and maintain economically. The LPX series products can be powered by production line power or portable generators, allowing for all daily inspection work to be carried out under extreme conditions. All systems can automatically adjust to adapt to standard 100-130 or 200-250 VAC input line voltages, or be powered by portable generators for use in any location where needed.
End grounded anode.The LPX series X-ray device is the most advanced, accurate, and reliable industrial X-ray system that can be applied to any occasion. All LPX systems use end grounded X-ray tubes, 100% duty cycle, beryllium windows, gas insulated tube heads, digital control, etc. The main features include the ability to retain the last set of exposure parameters and store and retrieve up to 250 exposure techniques.
LPX series dedicated laser pointer.
Only the LPX portable X-ray system can accurately aim at the target image area through a laser vision system with a dedicated laser pointer. The laser pointer will emit a high visibility reference laser beam from the tube head towards the surface up to 75 feet away from the tube head, to accurately display the position of the central X-ray beam. This laser pointer configuration is unique in industrial X-rays, with unparalleled accuracy, achieving higher efficiency and reducing installation time.
1620 X-ray tube head holder. The 1620 type pipe head bracket is designed for quick installation and provides solid support for the best image quality and flexible three-axis positioning of LPX series products. The pipe head is equipped with two telescopic legs, a variable height adjustment device driven by a handwheel, and a gearbox that provides lockable handwheel control for the inclination and horizontal rotation of the pipe head.
The tube head basket is equipped with padding for safe assembly and vibration reduction, but it does not hinder the easy and quick assembly of the tube head, and has interchangeability. The tube head basket can hold both 160kV and 200kV tube heads. The tube heads are positioned by a smooth, precision, lockable handwheel gear drive device. The handwheel is equipped with an automatic torque limiting device to prevent damage to the positioning mechanism. It is also equipped with a bubble type indicator for quick and easy leveling of the pipe head.
