The determination of plankton size requires the use of special measuring tools - a stage and eyepiece - under a microscope.
Due to the different magnification factors of different objective and eyepiece combinations, the actual length represented by each small grid of the eyepiece is also different. Therefore, when using an eyepiece for size measurement, it is necessary to calibrate it with a stage to obtain the relative length of each small grid of the eyepiece under a certain magnification of the eyepiece and objective lens of the microscope. Then, based on the number of grids of plankton equivalent to the eyepiece, the actual size of the plankton individual can be calculated.
