The team led by Dr. Don Sackett from the United States focused on six design concepts in the product design process, including small size, light weight, easy portability, fast speed, high precision, and durability. The specific manifestation is as follows:
1. Compact and lightweight
The SciAps handheld XRF analyzer weighs approximately 1.5kg and measures 184 × 267x 114 mm in length, width, and height.
2. Easy to use and labor-saving
The instrument adopts a unique symmetrical design, which helps users balance the instrument more easily and save energy.
The handle part is compact, and the streamlined design concept that fits the shape of the palm tiger mouth makes it comfortable for even female users with small hands to grip the instrument.
The design concept of the bottom square allows the instrument to easily stand steadily on the desktop, making it easy for users to grip the instrument and protecting their fingers from being injured by the sample.
The bottom of the instrument and the tail of the main body are in a straight line. When measuring small samples, the testing window of the instrument can be directly facing up, and the sample can be placed directly in the testing window for testing without the need to purchase a separate testing bracket.
3. Durable
The instrument design meets the IP54 three proof requirements, with good sealing and a unique heat dissipation concept that allows the instrument to work normally even in extreme high temperature environments.
All SciAps handheld XRF analyzers come standard with a detector shutter protection device, greatly reducing the likelihood of important components being damaged by irregular samples during testing.
4. More reasonable heat dissipation concept
All handheld XRF instruments work on the same principle and have similar structures. After running for a period of time, they will generate heat. Some instruments use reserved space below or install fans to help dissipate heat; Some instruments use top heat dissipation slots to help dissipate heat; Due to differences in the material of the instrument casing and the principle of heat dissipation, instruments that use plastic casing and top or bottom heat dissipation will not immediately transfer internal heat to the casing, and the instrument will not feel significantly hot after being turned on for a period of time. However, after working for the same amount of time, the SciAps instrument, which uses metal materials to conduct heat and dissipate the internal heat of the instrument into the air, cools down significantly faster than other instruments, indicating that the heat dissipation efficiency of the SciAps XRF instrument is much higher than that of other instruments.
The internal heat of the instrument is conducted to the instrument casing, which can better protect the electronic components inside the instrument and extend their lifespan.
All SciAps XRF instruments are tested in a high-temperature chamber before leaving the factory, simulating extreme high-temperature working environments. Only instruments that pass the test will be sent to customers.
5. Technology ensures accurate results
All XRF instruments from SciAps are the result of 18 years of research and development, and use technologically advanced components on the market. The LOD value of the X-50 Si pin detector is equivalent to the value of the SDD detector in 2010.
6. Faster detection speed, improved work efficiency, and longer service life
The design concept combines advanced components on the market to enable SciAps' XRF instruments to have fast reading and detection speeds. When the sample size is equivalent, it will have a longer service life; Within a unit of time, more samples can be analyzed to further reduce ownership costs.
7. Remote operation
Optional remote operation application, controlling instruments through mobile phones, and sharing test results through mobile phones (currently limited to soil heavy metal analysis applications)
8. Easy to operate
All XRF instruments run on SciAps' familiar Android operating system, combined with SciAps' simple and intuitive user interface, making instrument operation very simple. It can be connected to computers and printers via Bluetooth or wireless to share and print test results.
The data export operation through USB flash drive, Wireless LAN or Bluetooth is very simple. Touch screen displays have clear, bright, and readable characteristics under any lighting conditions.
The embedded GPS function can store accurate GPS coordinates along with the results for creating documents and drawing mapping maps of element positions. Standard high-definition camera; Integrate images with XRF data and GPS coordinates for use.
Concise report production and archiving operations, with excellent performance in tracing data back to the field. Users can easily add unique elements and cards for customers.
Characteristics of Alloy Analyzer Software
The SciAps XRF handheld spectrometer is a fast and effective solution for non-destructive verification of metal alloys. Due to its fast analysis speed, it can identify the chemical composition and confirm the grade information of metal alloys in a short period of 1 to 2 seconds. The software operation is simple, and it is widely used in the chemical composition analysis and alloy grade confirmation of metal related materials such as pipes, valves, welds, pressure vessels, waste sorting, and other fields.
The specific characteristics are as follows:
1. The function of intelligent recognition of substrate types
Based on the goal of quickly achieving investment returns and improving productivity for users, SciAps enables X analytical instruments to automatically identify substrate types without the need to manually select sample types for testing; Reduce operational difficulty, save testing time, and enable operators to obtain alloy or even aluminum alloy grades within seconds, regardless of their experience.
2. Allow timely sharing of global data
Using the Android system, it helps customers easily send sample information and test results from frontline testing sites to headquarters or decision-makers through Bluetooth, WIFI, and other methods. It assists decision-makers in quickly collecting testing data from various material yards (branches, or departments), making quick decisions, and easily archiving results.
3. A comprehensive alloy database
The X series alloy analyzer is equipped with a comprehensive alloy database, and the standard grade library includes over 500 unique alloy grades.
4. Powerful application extension functions
Customers can choose application extension software to edit their own databases and standards based on their own samples, and establish their own testing methods.
5. A fast, simple and comprehensive reporting system
Customers export comprehensive testing data and quickly create testing reports with testing time and date, as well as custom data labels.
The SciAps XRF handheld spectrometer is a new generation handheld XRF analyzer developed by Dr. Don Sackett from the perspective of developers and users, based on more than 20 years of accumulated technology and experience, after conducting user surveys on various brands of handheld XRF instruments. It was released in the United States in March 2018 and received a warm response upon launch.
Small, lightweight, high counting rate, precise, and fast (2 seconds), with its humanized design, simple operation, fast recognition, simple interactive experience, and excellent technology, it quickly gained recognition from the customer base. After multiple brand performance evaluations and multi-level screening comparisons, it was successfully shortlisted for the procurement list of major oil companies and their testing units in the United States in the third quarter of 2018.
