As early as the 1970s, domestic units had developed paddle dryers, but due to the technical conditions and overly complex design of the hot shaft structure at that time, they were stopped midway. With the reform and opening up of our country, foreign equipment has been continuously introduced, and domestic information in this field has been increasing. Therefore, some domestic units have developed it, and it has now formed a series of models.
Paddle dryer is a horizontal stirring dryer mainly based on heat conduction. Due to the shape of the stirring blades resembling ship paddles, it is commonly referred to as a paddle dryer, and also known as a trough dryer or stirring dryer in foreign countries.
Paddle dryer is a double axis (or four axis) horizontal mixer. Zui was successfully developed by the former Federal Republic of Germany, and later Japan introduced this technology and made improvements, developing a series of products with two axis and four axis structures and more than ten specifications. The heat required for drying this device relies on indirect heating through thermal conduction, so the drying process does not require or only requires a small amount of gas to remove moisture. This greatly reduces the heat loss carried away by the gas and improves the heat utilization efficiency, making it an energy-saving dryer. It is suitable for drying granular and powder materials, and can also dry paste materials.

The layout and dimensions of each part of the propeller blades have certain requirements, and in addition to the propeller blades, auxiliary mechanisms are also installed in the feeding, drying, and discharging areas to ensure stable operation and uniform drying of the entire machine. In addition, the duration of stay can also be adjusted.
The heating medium of this device can be steam, hot oil or hot water, but the phase of the heat carrier is different, and the hollow shaft structure is also different. When heated with steam, the hot shaft structure is simple; When heated with hot water, the shaft structure is relatively complex, especially when considering the liquid flow rate inside the pipe.
A large blade dryer has a shaft diameter of approximately 500mm, so sealing is a major issue. In the 1970s and 1980s, equipment was introduced, but the sealing problem of its shaft was not well solved, and solid powder often leaked to the two end caps during operation. Therefore, a discharge port is usually set at the bottom of the end cap to regularly remove materials from the end cap. This not only brings inconvenience to operation, but also increases shaft wear due to dust leakage, affecting equipment lifespan. In addition, for flammable and explosive gases, it is often necessary to install a backflow fan at the sealed area to prevent the leakage of flammable and explosive gases. For the sealing problem of large shafts, it has only been well solved in recent years abroad. There is basically no material accumulation at the end cover, and there is no need for regular cleaning and back blowing.
