Instrument Introduction:

Instrument name and model:
Jiaoli Scale Model: J-FY2-1
Instrument Usage Description:
On the footrest equipped with horizontal adjustment screws, a sleeve is vertically installed, with a vernier with a scale installed at the top of the sleeve. A steel pipe engraved with a millimeter scale is inserted into the sleeve, and the scale steel pipe can be adjusted by twisting through the pulley inside. The chain can lift and lower the scale steel pipe in the sleeve, so that the change in spring length can be read.

Performance parameters of the instrument:
Vernier scale: 0.1
Maximum load of spring: Three springs, 15g, 30g, 30g
Storage Laboratory: Mechanics Laboratory (1) 2-206

Possible experimental projects to participate in:
Used for measuring the surface tension coefficient of liquids; Determine the relationship between load and spring elongation; Measure the specific gravity of an object; Weigh the weight of small objects.

Introduction to Jiaoli Scale:

The structure of the Jiaoli scale
The Jiaoli scale is a precision weighing instrument (as shown in Figure A below). Hang a spring K on the crossbeam of an upright metal rod A that can move up and down (the spring is made into a cone shape to eliminate uneven extension caused by its own weight, and the tip of the cone should be on top and the bottom of the cone should be on the bottom when hanging). A rectangular flat mirror D with horizontal markings is hung at the bottom of the spring. The flat mirror D is suspended in a glass tube E with horizontal markings, and there is a small hook at the bottom of D that can be used to hang a weight plate F. The metal rod A of the scale is sleeved in the metal tube J, and the tube is equipped with a vernier B and a movable platform C. Turning the adjustment knob G can move the metal rod A up and down, thus adjusting the lifting and lowering of the spring. The distance for the spring to rise or fall is determined by the main ruler (metal rod A) and vernier B. The tilt adjustment knob I can adjust the level of the Jolly scale. The main ruler is abbreviated as a ruler.

The usage method of "three line alignment" for Jiaoli scale
When using a Jolly scale, the horizontal lines on the flat mirror D and the glass tube E should be aligned with each other in the reflective mirror D, that is, "three line alignment". The "three line alignment" method can ensure that the position of the lower end of the spring is always fixed, and the spring elongation △ X can be measured using a ruler and a vernier caliper (that is, the difference between the readings before and after the spring elongation is measured). The vernier of the Jiaoli scale is a very vernier, with a division value of 0.1mm. The reading method is the same as that of a vernier caliper. According to Hooke's Law, within the elastic limit, the elongation △ X of a spring is proportional to the applied external force F, that is, F=K △ X. In the equation, K is the spring's resistance coefficient (also known as the elastic coefficient). For a specific spring, the K value is constant. If a known weight is added to the weight plate and the elongation of the spring is measured, the K value of the spring can be calculated from the above equation. This step is called calibration of the Joule scale. After calibrating the Jiaoli scale, as long as the elongation of the spring is measured, the external force F acting on the spring can be calculated
